Recalling that the institution's management prolonged its mid-semester break due to electricity supply challenges, NAN reports.
In a statement from Katsina on Saturday, the Director Press, Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu-Yar’adua, disclosed that the governor sanctioned the prompt disbursement of funds for two electricity projects at the university.
The projects include the replacement of a 33KVA indoor control panel and the installation of solar security lights, totaling over ₦358 million. This initiative, aimed at combating vandalism and enhancing security on campus, was swiftly approved by Governor Radda to ensure a conducive learning environment at the institution.
The SSG, Alhaji Abdullahi Faskari, highlighted the governor's commitment to restoring uninterrupted power supply for educational and other activities at the university.
Radda expressed appreciation for the efforts of the university management and the understanding shown by the staff and students during the power supply restoration process. He also affirmed his administration's dedication to enhancing educational standards across all levels in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) noted the institution's decision to extend its mid-semester break due to electricity supply issues. The university's senate, after a special meeting, assessed the progress of electricity repairs, determining that the initial resumption date of Monday, Sept. 16, was unfeasible.
Given this situation and the ongoing efforts by the State Government to address the power fault, the university senate, through a statement by Muhammad Yusufu-Abubakar, Registrar and Secretary to the senate, has opted to postpone the resumption until full electricity restoration is achieved.
