At the Mobile World Congress 2024, Qualcomm unveiled a groundbreaking development in the realm of artificial intelligence with the introduction of the Qualcomm AI Hub. This innovative library boasts over 75 pre-optimised AI models, including popular generative models like Whisper and Stable Diffusion. These models are poised to revolutionize user experiences across a wide spectrum of devices, including smartphones, PCs, IoT devices, XR gadgets, and software-defined vehicles.
According to Durga Malladi, senior vice president and general manager of technology planning and edge solutions at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., the Qualcomm AI Hub offers developers a seamless solution for integrating advanced AI capabilities into their applications, promising faster, more reliable, and private user interactions.
The key highlight of the Qualcomm AI Hub lies in its ability to empower developers with a vast array of pre-optimised AI models, specifically designed to leverage the capabilities of Qualcomm and Snapdragon platforms. These models, which include renowned ones such as Whisper, ControlNet, Stable Diffusion, and Baichuan 7B, have undergone rigorous optimisation to ensure on-device generative AI experiences while consuming minimal power and memory resources. Moreover, they have been fine-tuned to leverage the Qualcomm AI Engine (NPU, CPU, and GPU), resulting in up to four times faster inferencing time.
During the event, Qualcomm demonstrated the capabilities of its Large Language and Vision Assistant (LLaVA), a custom model boasting over 7 billion parameters, which can seamlessly operate on Android smartphones. Additionally, the company showcased the world's first 7+ billion parameter model capable of processing both text and audio inputs.
Furthermore, Qualcomm provided insights into the AI features available on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphones, exemplified by devices such as the HONOR Magic6 Pro, OPPO X7, and Xiaomi 14 Pro. These features include AI-powered video creation, AI-powered calendar creation, image object eraser, and AI-generated image expansion, promising users enhanced functionality and creativity in their daily interactions with their devices.
